The problem with most training programs is the emphasis on training dogs to do tasks, but not necessarily tasks that translate to the real world. Most pet owners can make their dog sit, or lie down in the home environment, but find themselves in a no-win situation when their dog runs away, struggles at the veterinary office, bites a groomer, or worse!
The training programs at U Darn Dog! are designed primarily for the pet owner. Socialization, problem prevention, and common sense dog handling techniques will be at the forefront. Show-style obedience can be offered at a more advanced level, if requested.
Training sessions will be held in small groups (no more than six) so that each individual can be given the special attention that he/she needs. The cost will be slightly higher due to this, but still within the current range of training sessions offered elsewhere.
What sets these programs apart is that they will not be the rote curriculum currently offered by most trainers in the area. The following pages will illustrate the advantages of our more personalized "dog and owner" specific training as opposed to the more generic, obedience-only approach.
